Twelve Tidbits: Six

Twelve Tidbits: Six

"I feel all alone even though I am surrounded by people."

This was a quote that came out of my mouth as I was speaking to Kim today.

This tidbit was actually already on my list  that I made at the beach.

So, I found it very comforting that someone else in the world felt the same way.

Here is the rundown.

When I was with the girls on the beach, I was the only one without an iphone.

The only one.

If it ever got quiet...which you would think wouldn't be the case with 4 chatty ladies that have not seen each other in a long time...

but, it did get quiet...

I was probably the only one who noticed the deafening silence that surrounded.

Probably because I was the ONLY one without an iphone.

I mean.

Once I noticed the silence I made a conscious effort to check out what everyone was doing.

(These instances usually happened in the car.  And granted I was driving...so even if I did have an iphone I wouldn't need to be using it.)

What was everyone doing?

Catching up on much needed sleep?

Nope.

Looking out the window thinking about life?

Nope.

Faces were illuminated.

Glowing with the radiance that the iphone offers when held inches from your face.

It was like a drug.

A drug I did not have.

I left Florida convinced that needed to get me an iphone, too!

And I NEEDED the iphone4 because it had the best camera.

Then I was thinking over my experiences with the iphone.

My Mom and brother are THE SAME WAY with their iphone.

May not have seen them in two weeks.

We sit down to catch up on life.

But the "newsfeed"...whatever that is...must be checked before a conversation strikes up.

Sometimes in these instances I say:  "What's going on on facebook?"

The reply is always, no matter who I ask, "Ah. Nothing."

Yet they can't peel their eyes off of the "feed".

Well, it may be nothing, but it is definitely keeping your interest.

Then...(back to the beginning of this story)...Kim and I were talking today.

She has had some of the SAME INSTANCES happen to her recently.

(Kim also DOES NOT have an iphone.)

I said, "I know this is super silly.  But sometimes I feel so alone even when I am surrounded by people."

Kim:  "YES!  I feel the same way.  Oh, my goodness, that is EXACTLY how I feel!"

This is why I love Kim so much.

Even if I have silly random thoughts, Kim can relate to me on a real basis.

I also told Kim,"You know in sixth grade how we were the kiddos with Bongos on, while "everyone" else was wearing Guess and Girbaud?  That's our present day situation.  Pimping smartjustnotas-smart phones while the "rest" of the world has the iphone."

We laughed and decided those "Bongo" jeans were pretty comfortable.
My favorite pair were red.
I'm just sayin'.

It is our decision to make.

Bite the bullet and get an iphone?

Or stay on the Bongo side of life?

As for me, I will be wearing my Bongo's with pride.

That is until I am surrounded by friends and family again within arms length staring at their glowing faces.

Then I might decide I HAVE TO HAVE THOSE "Guess" jeans...or iphone in this case!

If I was the iphone type, I decided I like these covers:

Marc Jacobs $38...Click here to buy

Dannijo Reid $98...Click Here to Buy

But for now,  I will stay on the side of the fence where 4G doesn't reach and the grass is greener on the other side!

(If you know how I am with a phone, you know that phones should never be a big expense for me.  Usually can not find my phone.  If I know where my phone is...it is dead as a doornail. I'm just sayin.)

What exactly is the tidbit to take away from this?

1.  iphone's are great!

2.  if you have one

3.  if you don't...it stinks

4.  if you don't want your life to stink

5.  buy an iphone4

6.  if you want be a Bongo girl

7. keep your smartjustnotas-smart phone

8.  if you ever need another Bongo girl to lean on

9. i'm your girl

10.  i will also wait for the iphone because the iphone5 is around the corner

11. and if it's taken THIS long to get the coveted iphone...

12.  might as well wait for the hottest "Girbaud" jeans on the block!

Later Taters.

See you all tomorrow!

Hot Summer Heat

Grabbed the camera this afternoon to capture Hughes working so very hard in the flower beds.

The hot summer heat was actually more bearable than it has been the last few months.

Stopped to look up at me for a second.

His "chhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeese" face

Wait a minute...

I think I see (one) of my favorite people in the world.

Yip.

It's him.

Daddy!

So glad I caught this moment.

He immediately reaches out to Kent once he sees him.

That's happiness folks.

That's a tidbit worth a million bucks.

A trend that will never go out of style.

The happiness that children bring to your heart.

The comfort that only parents can give.

Can't be measured.

Can't "Click Here" to buy.

Only experience and blessings from Above can provide this kind of bliss.

Kent and the boys

Hope you all had a wonderful day!

See you tomorrow!

Twelve Tidbits: Five

Twelve Tidbits: Five

Okay.

If I ever get away to get a mani/pedi again, I'm going to ask for Shellac!

What is Shellac you say?

Um.

It is a hybrid.

Half nail polish

Half gel.

The makers of CND created this magic.

No drills are needed.

Just time under a UV light once it is applied.

I usually get an acrylic overlay on top of my natural nail.

No tips...like back in the day.

Shellac is best suited for chickas that want to maintain natural nails.

Which brings me to my next point.

Short nails.

Just do short nails.

Personal Side Note:

I pick the skin around my fingers.

Kent hates it.

I figure it is better than BITING my nails.

But it still looks gross.

You can tell the stress in my life by looking at the skin around my nails.

If it is non-existent and looks like pressed plywood.

I am stressing.

Internally.

And taking it out on my fingers.

Helps me cope.

Anyway.

When I got the overlay it created a thick layer of "nail"....

which was NOT conducive to my habit.

The extra thickness that the overlay doesn't allow me to skin my nails.

Kent tells me weekly to get a manicure.

And if I could find a salon within a 30 mile radius that was open at midnight, once everyone is asleep,

I would take him up on it.

Do you feel me.

Two tots in a nail salon isn't exactly...relaxing...or enjoyable...

for anyone.

Anyway.

Let's get back on track.

The nail tips (pun intended) that you should take away from this post:

1. Shellac is rockin'

2.  Short is poppin'

3.  Long is droppin'

4.  Natural is hoppin'

Now for a funny!

If you haven't seen this YouTube clip...

You MUST watch it!

Hillarious...

it will not be wasted time!

Unless, of course, you have never gotten your nails "done" in a chain store.

But, you know you have.

Remember prom 1999.

Hey, even November 17, 2007 for me.

Can't help it.

Secretly LOVE tips...at "active" length.

They make me feel pretty-ish.

Happy Tidbits!

Disclaimer:  Do not be under any conceptions that my nails are shellacked right now.

Or in a "manicure".

Or even ... even...they haven't seen a file in too many Mondays!

Twelve Tidbits: Four

Twelve Tidbits: Four
Emi-Jay Hair Ties and Headbands

Adorable.

Simple.

Chic.

These hair ties and headbands DO NOT leave a dent in your hair.

Let's just say you want to wear your hair down for dinner date with hubby tonight.

BUT.

Life must happen first.

Kiddos need a bath.

Mouths need to be fed.

But you only have a 3 o'clock time slot in your day (aka: nap time) to actually take a shower...

that includes more than a quick run through of the important areas.

You don't want your hair down while you are picking up the house, loving on babies before heading out the door, washing bottles, boiling bottles, bathing babies, changing diapers....

well, you get the picture.

These bad boys are your ticket to slick hair even AFTER a 4 hour ponytail!
They even look sweet stacked on your arm.

Soft arm candy...then you always have one on hand if you need that pony later in the night!

Here is a link of retail stores near you!

Just click on your state!

We ALL know it is better to SHOP LOCAL!!!

But if you just can't find them in your area,

you can find them here online!

Emi-Jay was created by two 15 year olds!

I say, "Way to go!"

I appreciate a younger generation learning good work ethic!

These two ladies also give 20% of their earnings to Locks of Love!

Here are a few photos of  how to wear them!

Extra Tip:

If you get the headbands, there seems to be a certain way to wear them.

Wear the band close to your scalp line.

(About 1 inch to 1 1/2 inches from the scalp line)

Throw a neat, yet slightly messy pony in the back.

You are ready to go.

And you look current and great!

Happy Tidbits!

Okay.

Ready for the bonus tidbit today?

Wear bracelets in odd numbers.

I think the following three bracelets grouped together would be adorable!
