Addition...

Addition...

to our home that is...

On the OTHER addition that we are awaiting, Wiley....

We went to the doctor yesterday.

Wiley is still growing strong..

as is Mama Hen!

Dr. Gnam actually hooked me up to the monitor to watch me, or should I say, my contractions, for about twenty minutes.

This really unnerved me.

While expecting Hughes, I never had to chill in the LazyGirl chair while we watched the contractions to make sure everything was okay.

But we took it in stride.

I go back for my last two week appointment on the 23rd.

We will then see each other on a weekly basis!

We are working feverishly to get the house ready for Wiley

and the extra help (hint hint wink wink) that will be coming to help us.

P.S. Little Helpers, we are working to get the guest bedroom ready and comfy just for you.

Actually, your guest room will be more completed than the
master bedroom by the time Wiley arrives!

Here are a few pictures of the progress as of Thursday.

The rooms look TOTALLY different today.

But you will have to wait for an update to see the progress!

View of the bathtub, shower and cabinet as you walk into the bathroom.

Here is our shower...

p.s. We are still waiting on our shower doors.

We just ordered them yesterday!

Vanity...Uncle Charles made the vanity and TILED the entire bathroom.

Talent, I tell you.  Pure Talent.

We are SOOO APPRECIATIVE of all of his hard work.

It looks so awesome.

Tiling is not even his day job.

Tiling and building is just another talent!

....and BOY are we thankful for his talent!!!!

Here is our closet.  The shelves directly in front of you, will be mine.

The shelves to the right of the photo will be Kent's!

Here is the master BEFORE clean up, carpet and ceiling fan.

And just for good measure.

We had to include a picture of the BEST little helper around!

He was staring out the window saying, "NO"! (snow)

Hope you all enjoy your weekend!

SNOW FUN!

As I was making the Chili and Peanut Butter Balls for dinner last night,

Kent decided to take Hughes out and play in the snow!

He captured some pretty cute shots!

Hughes was LITERALLY covered from head to toe!

He kept falling down and getting right back up!

I remember looking at the ONE set of pictures my parents took when it snowed ONCE.

I always thought they were so neat.

Hopefully, Hughes will look back on these pictures the same way!

Stay warm...

and if your feeling up to it....

have a Peanut Butter Ball!

They are super simple to make!

Jeanine gave me her recipe:

This was the actual email I received from her:

"I have gotten to where I just make up the recipe as I go.

I melt one stick of butter until ALMOST melted in the micro. Then add about a cup of creamy or crunchy peanut butter. Next stir in the powdered sugar. I don't know exact amount. I do know more than the box, you will need the bag. I like to add a little more powdered sugar because it makes them easier to roll. Then I roll into balls and dip in chocolate.

I hope that makes sense! That is probably the only recipe I can make off the top of my head. Not really sure what that says about me!!! hehehe"

Sounded simple enough!  So we made them...and I started with only adding ONE box of sugar and it seemed like enough.

Enjoy the pictures!

Build a snowman for us!

The Big Day

Kent asked me to marry him today.

Well, not TODAY.

But it was THIS day, February 9th, in 2007.

It was a Friday.

I will ALWAYS remember the special day.

This particular FRIDAY at school we were hosting the Valentine's Party at the school.

AFTER SCHOOL.

The Valentine's Parties were always soooo much fun.

Lots of work.

But, soooo much fun.

The children would go home at 3:00.

Get ALL dolled up.

We're talking.

Sunday Dresses.

Suits and Ties.

Make up.

You heard me...Make Up.

Reminder:  I taught at a K-2 school.

Again, I say.  Make Up.

Faux Fur Coats...and I'm pretty sure it was because they were members of  PETA.

I'm guessing the Faux was because they were ages 5-8.

ANYWAY...the party was from around 5:30-7:30.

They included pizza, cookies, chips, juice, a store filled with glow necklaces, heart tattoos, and much more.

We always had a DJ.

DJ E...aka DJ Elizabeth.  Elizabeth is the young fun teacher that ALL the children knew.

And more importantly...LOVED.

Elizabeth is a kid at heart.  Which makes her PERFECT with children.

Literally.  PERFECT with children...and being in tune with what the children like in music.

So, DJ E was born!

After a day of teaching and a NIGHT of extra "fun"....

needless to say...

I

WAS

POOPED.

Felt Pooped.

Looked Pooped.

WAS Pooped.

I called Kent on my way home.

Kent: "Hey, why don't you go home and take a bath.  Get ready and we will go have a nice dinner."

Me:  "Ain't happening buddy. I am WORN out.  All I want is a BED!"

Kent:  "Come on.  It will be fun.  We have had long weeks...let's go to dinner"

Me:  "NO."

Kent:  "Well you have to eat SOMETHING."

Me:  "If you want to have dinner with me, meet me at Jason's Deli and we will have a quick bite."

Kent:  "Okay!"

Me:  Thoughts:  Is he crazy? Does he NOT know that I have been at work since 6:30 this morning teaching all day.  Then, after school decorating for a Valentine Party.  Then, being a photographer/chaperone/ball of energy to ensure the children have a safe and fun time until RIGHT NOW?  It's 8:00.  That's a 13 1/2 hour day!!!!  GET READY?  I'd rather....not!  Can't we go to a NICE dinner TOMORROW NIGHT?

So, Kent meets me at Jason's Deli.

I don't know what I ate.

I'm sure it was the French Onion Soup with a grilled cheese.

Because, I tend to be a creature of habit.

I'm SURE we enjoyed the free ice cream.

Because, we are creatures of habit.

...more importantly, we have a sweet tooth...or two.

Then, he said we should go to his house.

Fine.  It's close.

I walk into the living room and the little stinker has happies for me on his sofa.

Two or three Vera Bradley Bags.

Two stuffed animals.

Me:  "Kent, I thought we weren't getting each other ANYTHING for Valentine's Day?"

Kent:  "It's not Valentine's Day.  And besides it's not that much."

I open up one of the bags.  Which has candy in it.  The big bag also had a smaller bag.

The candy was where I stopped.

An assortment of candy.

Me:  "Oh.  Thanks Kent.  I LOVE a Crunch bar.  But I don't like these Mr. Goodbars.  You know I don't like nuts.  Let me just get the Mr. Goodbars out for you.  You should take them to work.  OH, I LOVE the plain milk chocolate hersheys.  I'm gonna keep those.  I guess I will keep the dark chocolate, too!  They are good if you put them in the refridgerator.

Me:  Thought:  Kent sure does look tense.  It's just candy.  I mean this gift is nice, but nothing OVER THE TOP.  I don't feel TOO guilty for not getting him something.  Maybe I will run to target tomorrow and get him a card.  I might throw in an i tunes card!  Why does he look so concerned about this candy?

Kent:  "Well, are you going to look in the smaller bag?"

Me:  "Yeah."

Me:  Thought:  I mean if it's just more candy, what's the rush?  What is it? Jolly Ranchers?  OH!  I know.  Mini M&M's.  He knows how much I like to pour those over my popcorn!  Calm down Kent.  Surely, the candy can wait!  Right?

WRONG!

NO M&M's to be found.

BUT, there was a little black velvet box.

I just stared at it.

Scene:  I am sitting on the sofa.  Surrounded by Vera Bradley make up bags. Two white stuffed teddy bears and candy.  Kent is sitting across from me in an oversized chair.  ON the edge of the over sized chair.

I continue to stare at it.

I did not open it.

I stared at the box.

I stared at Kent.

Back at the box.

Kent:  "You not going to open it?"

Me:  "Yeah."

I opened the box.

There it was.

The ring that would be on my left hand for the rest of my life.

Sitting in the box.

Waiting for my finger.

Waiting for years of dishwater, dings, showers, cleanings every now and then with a toothbrush and toothpaste, tugs from Hughes, twists around and around my finger from me, waiting 9 months for the wedding band to come and join the party.

I knew immediately that this ring symbalized a new and forever change in my life.

Side Note:  Poor Kent.  He is still sitting on the edge of his chair, as I am having all of these realizations.  Who knows?  He probably thought I wasn't sure about all of this.  But I knew.  I knew Kent was the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with VERY EARLY on.  Actually, was HOPING in the very back of my head that he would have already asked me! ... A few months ago! :)

Kent came over to the sofa.

Got on one knee.

And asked me to marry him.

Of course, I said, YES!

He put the ring on.

Or did I put it on?

I don't remember.

We hugged.

As we were hugging, I was thinking:

Lovely thoughts.   Probably.

Happy Thoughts.  Probably.

What will my wedding dress look like?

What will be the date of our wedding?

Actually.  None of the above.

It was actually something like this...

"OH!  I am so tired and we are about to be on the phone for a LONG time!"

We were.  And it was wonderful.

I first cried when we called Mama Jean.  She told me all her hopes, wishes and dreams were coming true.
Her grandgirls were getting married.
The flood gates were then opened!

(Carmen, Brandice, Bronwyn and I were all engaged to be married.  The same year.  The McCreary family had so much to look forward to!)

The night was perfect.

A nice dinner wouldn't have made it any more special.

We did go enjoy a nice dinner the following night to celebrate.

Paige, Me and Leslie!
This is the only picture that I have from that day.

Love you Kent!

Everyday Occurances

Everyday Hughes does these two things....

Bath

and

Sleep

....of course, he also eats, but didn't capture a pic of him doing that yesterday!

----------------------------------

BATH

This was Hughes yesterday at bath time!

Playing with his new numbers and shapes he received from Santa!

Hughes LOVES to "wash" his hair...by himself.

But when he lets me do the REAL wash, I tend to play a bit!

This Mohawk may be a new look for him!

------------------------

NAP

Yesterday afternoon, I went in to wake Hughes up from his nap.

It was time for us to get ready to meet Papa Sam, Gran and Ben in Starkville for dinner!

I just thought he looked snug as a bug in a rug.

So peaceful.

ahhhhh....

Remind me again why I didn't take a nap while he was?!

Nite Nite Baby!

Disclaimer:  Yes I realize I should have used photoshop in the bathtub pictures.

Why? You ask.

Because the tub looks dirty.

However, it is not.

It's old.

And cold.

Why cold?

It's ceramic.  Hey, it's from the 60's.

AND....

Yes, we only have a knob for hot water.

Where is the knob for cold water?

It fell off.

Now we turn a screw to get cold water to come on.

NOTE: Even PHOTOSHOP cannot fix this problem.

...And photoshop can do everything.

Like remove Hughes red eye in the Mohawk picture.

No time. Friends.

No Time.

Don't hate.

You understand right?

Happy Wednesday to you all!

P.S. Pictures of the bathroom addition coming up!

It isn't complete yet.

 However, we are getting closer!

We are getting the carpet in our bedroom Friday!

YAY!

This means we can work towards getting the house ready for Wiley.

Because we will be moving out of the guest bedroom into the master bedroom.

The guest bedroom will move to the ACTUAL guest bedroom.

And the make-shift "guest bedroom" can be turned into Wiley's nursery.

Yes, lots and lots of furniture moving heading our Kent's way!

Being pregnant DOES have it's upside...direct and point.

Instead of direct, LIFT and point!

Wish us Kent luck!

....and BEN, whose help Kent has already enlisted!

Valentine Idea

A Valentine Idea for You

Valentine's Day is about telling the people that you love....

WHY you love them

And telling them generously on this special day coming up soon!

Today I decided to make a Valentine for our family!

Each day we will write a note and place it in each others' bag.

It may say:

"I loved watching you play football with Hughes!"

"Thank you for always doing the laundry!"

"Daddy, thanks for letting me play EXTRA long in the bathtub tonight!  I loved playing in the bubbles!"

"I love you EVEN though you DON'T ALWAYS have shirts iorned for me and hanging in the closet!" :)

"You are my sunshine.  My only sunshine.  You make me happy when skies are grey.  You'll never know dear how much I love you.  Please don't take my sunshine away."  Love. Mama

It could be ANYTHING that pops in your head.

And on Valentine's Day we will be able to read the sweet notes that have
been written for us!

Could you ask for a better present?

Just started with some paper gift bags.

You could certainly use paper lunch bags, ziplocs, baskets, vases...

really anything you have on hand.

Cut strips of construction paper/typing paper/....again any paper you have on hand.

I placed our strips in a bucket with a pen!...

A piece of paper for each of us until Valentine's Day!

Here is the finished product!

Our Valentine's Day will be filled with lots of sweet thoughts and moments...

AND

Better Yet!

We didn't break the bank!

Happy Valentine Month!

Are you planning anything special for Valentine's Day?

Fear of Water

So, I have a HUGE HUGE HUGE fear of water.  And now that I'm a Mom, that fear has grown into hydrophobia (aka:  phobia of water).

Let me clarify MY life with water.

*I like to be able to see my feet under the water.

*It's not SO bad that I won't take a bath.  I mean the bath is def a guilty pleasure for me.

*I DO love to go to the swimming pool.

*Especially, the ones with a beach entrance.  I would pay more for a hotel/condo that had a swimming pool with a beach entrance!

*The swimming pool and children scare me...Really, the children's safety is ALL I can think about when in a swimming pool.  My child.  Your child.  Any child.  Clearly, RELAXING at the pool ... with children... is not in the cards for me.  When Hughes is not with me at the pool, you will probably find me laying in a lounger with a book/magazine/eyes closed/some object that keeps my attention AWAY from the pool....or else I begin to worry about the safety of your children....THAT ARE NOT EVEN MY OWN!

*Can you see the small dilemma this causes?

-----------------------------------------

What brings this post to life?

The same thing that woke me up this morning.

This morning I woke myself up...screaming.

Screaming?  Really?  Britanny, isn't that a little dramatic?

Well, maybe.

In the dream, I WAS screaming.  Probably just came out as a normal tone in real life though.

--------------------------------------

P.S. I talk in my sleep.

I am not ashamed.

I talk in my sleep.

Poor Kent.

-------------------------------------

What were you screaming you ask?

These exact words:  "They are pushing him in the water."

What makes it worse is that I was pointing...along with the dialog.

Yes, pointing in the dream AND in real life.

My dreams have ALWAYS been VERY vivid and realistic.

Kent says I should NEVER repeat them because people might think I'm crazy :)...which is entirely possible ;)

So, in the dream there were about 10 toddlers ranging from 1-3 RUNNING around a swimming pool.

I couldn't get to them.

Helpless.

Hopeless.

With the summer months coming up, I can feel my anxiety level rising.  Even as I write this post.

I have a GREAT respect for the water.

Never have had a traumatic experience....thank goodness...hello counseling here I come, if that were to EVER happen.

The reason for this post:

Do you have the same phobia?

Or do you have a phobia that is JUST as horrifying to you?  SO horrifying that it haunts your dreams?

I hope not.

But, then again I do hope SOMEONE does.

Because I don't want to be the ONLY person out there with a FEAR so REAL.

------------------------

Okay...going to sign Hughes up for Maley's Swim School after baby comes!!!

I figure the education will help with my anxiety.

I'm one of those people.

Education helps to ease me.

The more prepared I am.

**The better.

**Except when it came to birthing my babies.  In that case, ignorance is bliss.

Happy Tuesday!

Girls Girls Girls

This past week Hughes and I went home to visit.  Brandy, Maggie, Jeanine and I met up Wednesday night for dinner to catch up on our lives.  Of course, we picked right back up where we left off.  Where did we leave off?  Around MSU 5 years ago....

wait...

what?....

FIVE YEARS ago?

Wow.  Time really does fly.

Yet.  Friendships stay the same.

The food was so so.

But the company was priceless!

Here are the ONLY two pictures taken to capture the moment!

Brandy, Hughes, Me, Jackson, Maggie and Jeanine
