Easter Weekend in Photos

We had a great weekend hopping around like Easter bunnies!

Here is our weekend in photos!

Daddy and Hughes playing a friendly game of bowling!

Hughes checking out what was inside his egg at the egg hunt Saturday!

Francie hunted Easter eggs with the grace of a little lady.  She inspected each egg before placing it in her basket.  Enjoying the beauty, color and candy of each one.

Harlan, on the other hand, was on a mission.  He was running around saying, "Swipin' Eggs. Swipin' Eggs.  Swippin' Eggs."  It was so much fun to watch him "Swipe Eggs" and his basket was filled to the brim by the time the hunt was over.

Kent, Wiley, Francie, Granddaddy Brown, Harlan and Hughes.

Just SOME of Granddaddy Brown's great grandchildren.
We can't wait until we can all get together very soon.

Hughes thought it would be a FANTASTIC idea to dump out his basket!

The Easter bunny came to visit the boys during the night.  Bunny thought it would be great to get the boys swim trunks and beach towels for the upcoming summer months!  Bunny whispered in my ear..."I think I'm gonna make the swim trunk gift a tradition."  I thought Bunny had a great idea!  I mean that will save Mama from having to buy swim trunks every year!

Hughes, on the other hand, was more excited about the golf clubs!
But, he had time to squeeze in a little hug for Wiley!

Hughes tried on his swim trunks and dump truck socks WITH his pajama top, of course.

Kent took Hughes on the course so he could play with his new set of clubs.  Hughes threw on his house shoes and out the door they went!

After the church service, we had brunch.  Ma'Lyn made all of the Easter outfits!  They turned out gorgeous and the children looked precious!  I LOVED the color combinations that she chose this year!

This is Hughes SQUEALING.  Because that is what Hughes does.  He squeals.  Happy Easter.

(Sometimes I like to post SOME of the series of pictures so you can feel like you were there.
Parents just trying to capture a sweet moment of their sweet babies...usually turns into...
Parents bribing their children in hopes to MAYBE get a DECENT picture of what could hopefully LOOK like a sweet moment of their SWEET? babies...)

The below photo is to be dated, signed and notarized by the Easter bunny himself.

This is the FIRST year that Francie and Harlan would get CLOSE to the sweet guy.

Maybe when Hughes is 3, like Harlan, or 4, like Francie, he will get close to the bunny.

But, this year, he just squealed when he came to our table.

Proud moment as a parent.  Proud I tell ya!

Two of my three, sweet boys!

  "Cheeeeeeeeeeeese!"

Harlan, Kent and Hughes tracking up the stairs.  All good things must come to an end.

Hope you all had a Happy Easter weekend.

The Mortimer family definitely enjoyed the special time together!

Read Read Read

I have read a book since Wiley has been born...

and recently started on my 2nd!

Since I am awake MORE often, I find myself chilling with the iPad alot during the night.

The first book I downloaded was:

Super Easy Read.

No.

It's not all about Brooke being naked...

which she has been...

publicly...

numerous times...

However, this book is more about her stripping down...mommy/wife/career wise.

I would recommend it.

Light. Easy. Not too deep.

Good.

I am currently reading:

Candace is very spiritual...

which I didn't know...

until starting this book.

Each chapter contains scripture and is recapped at the end of each chapter.

All I knew about Candace was that she was the AMAZING DJ Tanner on Full House.

OH...Full House...just saying those words take me back to scrunchy neon socks and canvas keds!

Also, turning out to be a good read.

But I am wondering,

What are you reading, if anything?

I will be finishing up this book very soon.

Trying to figure out what will be next!

Also, if anyone knows of a good couples devotional, Kent and I are in the market.

Kent came home the other day and put me on the task.

Last year, we were both involved in Devotionals...outside of church groups...

and we are really missing that daily more personal devo.

Suggestions anyone?

Hope you all have a great Wednesday!

Wiley at One Month

Wiley

At One Month you are:

Sweet as ever

Wearing size newborn diapers

Wearing size newborn clothes

Rolling from side to side

You are eating every 3 hours...when we're lucky

usually every 1 1/2 to 2 hours

sometimes every hour

Weigh 7.5 lbs

Are 20 1/2 inches long

You like the vibrating Boppy chair and the chair that attaches to the Pack-n-Play.

You seem to like being flat on your back.

When your tummy hurts, you like to curl up in a bitty ball, with your feet tucked under you, cuddled close to Mommy, right under my neck.
(When you are in this position, my favorite thing is to rub my chin back and forth over your soft wild hair.)

You have good neck stregnth for a one month old.

You like walking around with me in the Baby Bjorn.

Hughes can make a TON of noise and you won't even flinch.

You make us so happy and we look forward to watching you grow big and strong!

There are obvious differences....

Do you see any similarities?

Family Garden & Birthday Memories

This past weekend, Kent and Hughes started our family garden.  Granddaddy Brown is allowing us to use his land behind his house for our garden.  Kent remembers a garden being on this land for as long as he can remember.  Kent and I talked about having a garden in our yard.  However, space is not really on our side.  So, we asked Granddaddy Brown if we could use his spread of land!

Hughes and Kent planted only one row this weekend.  We hope to plant more in the coming weekends.

Hughes helped plant the tomato plants and arugula.
We are hoping to teach Hughes many things through this garden:

1.  Work Ethic.  Very important and something that must be taught.

2.  Cause and Effect.  He will see the outcome of hard work.  Even if the "cause" gives a negative/dead "effect".  :)

3.  Pureness of Food.  The best food we can eat doesn't have preservatives all throughout.  Hughes will hopefully learn that raw pure food provides the best taste and health benefits.

4.  Time with Family.  Together we can create quality time together that hopefully Hughes will appreciate.  I know Kent and I will cherish this time.

Really, we just wanted to do something fun and old school.  We firmly believe that children should romp and stomp in the dirt, make mud pies in old green bean cans, and stay outside until dinner is ready! That's not to say that our children won't have PS3's or Wii's, but we do want them to enjoy the outside also.  (Kent and my addiction to Angry Birds lets you know that we are NOT opposed to tech games!)  Warning:  Angry Birds is addictive....FUN...but highly addictive!

Enjoy the pictures of the boys in the garden!

Brandy, my dear friend that lives in Nashville, sent the boys a gift in the mail yesterday!

Hughes enjoyed opening the gifts!

I just LOVE the stamped names on the presents!  Great idea...so personal...and adorable!

Brandy also sent me a birthday gift!  THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

(It was La Mer lip balm....AMAZING!...feels like satin on my lips!)

Something else you should know:  My computer has locked me out.  That's right.  I can't even open my computer!!!  I am using a laptop Kent brought home from the bank.  He brought it home to work on a few things for work last night.  And, thankfully, left it here.  So, I'm sure he will take it back tomorrow.  So, we may not update the blog for a while.  Just warning you! :)  Kent said the other day, "I'm going to come home one day and you are going to be sitting in front of a 27 inch Apple computer!"  Yeah, right...like I'm going to load up the kiddos, drive to Jackson, and purchase a computer....!

If you would have seen the steam coming from my ears when my computer rebelled against me, like Kent did, you would know...that the above scenrio is ENTIRELY possible! ;)

I can do ALOT with my iPad...but blogging via iPad just won't work! :)

How else will all two of my readers...Ma'Lyn and Gran...see the pictures of the boys growing right before our eyes?

Hope you all have a great day!

P.S.  Today is my birthday!

I am 28 years old today!

I'm a 1983 model!

That's right, I grew up with:

Coca Cola T-shirts, a great barbie-ish cartoon that featured "The Jems", Alvin and the Chipmunks (I always wanted to be Britney), the Original Nintendo that came with Duck Hunt and Mario Brothers (which I think is still the best...next to Donkey Kong, of course), Tiffany, the song Toy Soldiers, Paula Abdoul and that cool cat in the video, JELLY shoes...in every color...EVERY color!, Popples (the great stuffed animal that rolled into a ball!), and lots of other great things!  We had a great childhood filled with tons of play...outside...inside...and LOTS of imaginary play....especially since I was the only girl...smushed in between two brothers...one six years older and one six years younger!

The best birthday parties were spend-the-night parties!  Bless my parents...bless their pea pickin' hearts!  Oh...how I loved a birthday party!  Cake.   Ice Cream.  Presents.  Friends.  Family.  Can't beat it.

Then when I turned 16, I had evolved into a ROYAL brat.

Bless my parents...bless their pea pickin' hearts!

I thought I would get a new car.

I mean, it was my 16th birthday!

Who doesn't get a new car for their 16th birthday?

Me.

That's who.

Heart broken.

Lesson Learned.

Don't expect things that you know WILL NOT HAPPEN.

Life is not a fairy tale.

All children don't wake up on April 13th, get ready for school...in a new outfit, of course, eat a hot breakfast with biscuits, sausage and Golden Eagle syrup mixed with butter, and walk outside to a BRAND....NEW Car...with a big HUGE larger than LIFE...red (or hot pink would have done) bow on top!

Needless to say....again...

Bless my parents...bless their pea pickin' hearts!

I needed a spankin' for my 16th

birthday, go to school in an old DIRTY outfit,

with an empty stomach and

...WALK my rear to school...or even worse Mama should have dropped me off...while everyone was standing outside on the school sidewalk!.

They should have taken the car keys I had away.

But, they didn't.

Because they are nice.  And it WAS my birthday.  Thank goodness.

AND...I grew out of that stage.

HALLELUJAH!!!!

(As I read over this confession, I am super tempted to delete it.  My behavior is very embarressing to admit.  Wouldn't it be nice to erase all bad memories/attitudes/years we're not so proud of?  But, maybe, at least, ONE person will comment and say they, too, have a bratty moment (or two)?   So I don't feel like such a bad person, here, 12 YEARS LATER!)

-------------------------------------

I was also born on a Wednesday!

Only two more years left in my twenties!

What else should I squeeze in before hitting the big THREE-OH!?

AND....

The ONLY way I was able to update the blog to this length...

Hughes is hanging out with Ma'lyn for the day...for my birthday!

I miss him, but the quiet time is nice.  Looking forward to seeing what all he gets into today!  Thanks Ma'Lyn!

Happy Day to you all!

Drivin' Me Nuts

The ONLY thing DRIVIN' me nuts right now is my computer...

(please excuse the sideways pictures...

I promise when I saved them in a smaller resolution the picture looked correct...

...then when I went to upload...

...well you see what happened!

...just turn your head sideways...

or don't...
...but some of them were too cute to throw out...

...and time is ticking while children are asleep...

...therefore NO time to worry over turning a photo...

surely you understand!)

These boys are so much fun.

Hughes is talking up a storm and EVERY day seems like he adds 10 new words to his vocabulary!

Wiley is now three weeks old!

Can you believe it?

Kent, Papa Sam, Hughes and Ben went to a MSU baseball game two weekends ago!

They had so much fun...doing what boys do.

I mean, is there much more to life than a Huge hot dog, bags of peanuts, coke and a good baseball game?

I think not! :)

Wiley.  Doing what he does best...

during the daytime anyway! :)

Nite Nite time...well...that's a different story.

Mike, Mary Love, Francie and Harlan gave Hughes this chair to celebrate his becoming a BIG BROTHER!

Hughes LOVES it!  He pulls it all over the house!

Francie meeting Wiley for the first time!

One Big Brother and a Precious Cousin so excited to hang out with you Wiley!

We are ready for Harlan to meet Wi-Wi...(this is what Hughes calls Wiley).

Uncle Ben came over one night to work on his resume!  Ben, if you are reading this, you better have re-formatted that bad boy.  All of the hard work is finished!

Breakfast time at our house.

Wiley always seems to slide down in the boppy bouncy seat...

Wide awake...sideways picture..but wide awake! :)

We are working VERY hard on being GENTLE with Wie-Wie...
however, it may be an useless act...

We will get the hang of this one day!

P.S.  The best thing EVER is happening right now...

we are getting the yard worked on!

Which means, this house is one step closer to getting landscaping!

Woop Woop!
